Local Art Lands On Las Vegas Library Cards
Six local artists are featured on Las Vegas-Clark County Library District's new cards, announced as part of National Library Lovers' Month.
LAS VEGAS, NV - The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District unveiled six new library cards that they began distributing today. Why is this news? Because the cards will feature artwork from the winners of the district's first #GetCarded Library Card Design Contest.
The announcement comes as a way to celebrate National Library Lovers' Month. The contest yielded nearly 700 entries from people who were asked to submit a piece of art that reflects what the library means to them. Over 3,000 votes on Facebook determined the six winners of the contest.
"Those looking for a unique way to celebrate Valentine’s Day can bring their loved ones in to their nearest library branch and sign up for library cards together,” said Dr. Ron Heezen, executive director of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District in a statement. “Our new cards are a fun introduction to the wonderful world of discovery, knowledge, and free entertainment that you can find in our buildings, and on our website, all year long!”
