Mayfair Place Park Opening Downtown

A new park is opening in Downtown Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS, NV - Las Vegas' newest park will be opened and dedicated during a ceremony downtown next week. The public is invited to attend as Mayfair Place Park, located at 415 S 15th St., will be opened and dedicated in an 11 a.m. ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

"Neighborhood families have hoped for this new park for a long time. I look forward to celebrating this milestone with the community," said Las Vegas city councilman Bob Coffin of Ward 3.

Construction on the park began in March and cost just over $1 million to construct. The Downtown park will feature a basketball court, a playground, picnic and barbecue areas, a walking and jogging path with eight benches, four fitness exercise stations, bike racks, a drinking fountain, lighting and fencing, and an open area with eight trees.

The park will sit on land that was originally the location of the Mayfair Grade School in the 1940s. The building was demolished in 2002.
