Suspected Domestic Incident Prompts Las Vegas School Lockdown

Students were rushed into Walter Johnson Junior High School as police surveyed the area.

LAS VEGAS, NV -- A suspected domestic incident Tuesday morning prompted a lockdown at Walter Johnson Junior High School.

The incident, which was reported around 8 a.m., began when a man drove a Bobcat construction vehicle into a nearby home and cars, said Las Vegas Metro Officer Aden Ocampo Gomez.

The incident prompted a soft lockdown at nearby Walter Johnson Junior High School as police searched for the suspect who damaged the property. As of 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, police were still looking for the suspect, Ocampo Gomez said.

Ocampo Gomez told Patch the lockdown was issued as a precautionary.

"We usually do that. The school police does that whenever there is any police activity going on," said Ocampo Gomez, adding that no children are currently, or were ever believed to be, in danger.
