Las Vegas Police Investigating Two Monday Morning Murders

Separate shootings Monday morning left two people dead.

LAS VEGAS, NV - Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are investigating two separate homicides which occurred early Monday morning.

Metro police first responded to a scene on the 4200 block of Calimesa St. at 1:41 a.m. on Jan. 29 after detecting gunshots using the ShotSpotter Alert System. The system uses acoustic technology to locate and alert police of gunfire incidents as they happen. When police arrived at the scene they found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Medical Center where he died. Police said the victim was the target of a drive by shooting involving a white Ford pickup. The shooting may be related, police said, but a suspect has not been identified.

Metro officers responded to the second scene on the 2900 block of W. Washington St. just after 3 a.m. where a homeless man was found dead in front of a business from multiple gunshot wounds. Police said the homeless man was sleeping in front of the business when an unidentified suspect walked up and shot him. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
