Rep. Ruben Kihuen Allegedly Made Unwanted Sexual Advances

A former finance director said congressman made unwanted sexual advances towards her during 2016 campaign, according to Buzzfeed report.

Rep. Ruben Kihuen of Nevada's 4th Congressional District is facing allegations of unwanted sexual conduct in an Buzzfeed report that was published today. According to the report, Kihuen's former finance director, who is only identified as Samantha in the article, quit his campaign due to his repeated advances.

The woman says that Kihuen told her on several occasions that he'd like to take her out if she wasn't working on his campaign. She also told Buzzfeed that Kihuen asked on several occasions whether or not she'd ever cheated on her boyfriend before. In addition to the comments, the report states that shortly before leaving the campaign, Kihuen put his hand on the back of her thigh.

Kihuen told Buzzfeed in a statement that "The staff member in question was a valued member of my team. I apologize for anything I may have said or done that made her feel uncomfortable. I take this matter seriously as it is not indicative of who I am. I was raised in a strong family that taught me to treat women with the utmost dignity and respect. I have spent my fifteen years in public service fighting for women's equality, and I will continue to do so."
