Las Vegas Bubble Run
This 5K run is a little different than what you'd normally expect in a race. Bubble Run is a company that does things a little differently when it comes to running. As the company says, a Bubble Run "is like running through Willy Wonka's factory."
Runners dress in all white and pass through stations along the way that coat them in colored foam. Racers start out looking like a clean napkin and end up looking like the refrigerator artwork of a 4-year old. Colors. Everywhere.
This Saturday, Nov. 18, the Las Vegas Valley hosts the latest one. The race starts at 8 a.m. at Sam Boyd Stadium on 7000 E Russell Road. The three-mile course starts at Sam Boyd and goes up and down Wiesner Way before finishing back at the stadium. Participation costs $50 and children 4 years old and under race for free. Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot
More traditional runners can enjoy the Las Vegas Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day. The annual Las Vegas race offers four different courses. Runners can compete in a half marathon (starting at 7:30 a.m.), a 12K course (starting 7:45 a.m.), a 5K course (starting 7:50 a.m.), or a one-mile course (starting 7:50 a.m.).
The course is outside of Las Vegas in Boulder City at the Historic Railroad Trailhead in Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The half marathon and 12K courses will take the scenic route, passing by the Hoover Dam.
It's a runner-friendly course, with minimal inclines and no vehicle traffic. The race is on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23. Registration ranges from $40-$100.
Wobble Before You Gobble
For those wanting to stay in the city and run on Thanksgiving, but not run all the way to the Hoover Dam, there's another option. The Wobble Before You Gobble 5K/1-mile run or walk race will take place Thanksgiving Day at Kellogg Zaher Park at 7901 W Washington, Ave. Click here for registration information.
Ward 5 Tree Lighting Celebration
The holiday tree lighting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. at Lorenzi Park on 3333 W Washington Ave. Refreshments and entertainment will also be available.
