Here are the top three stories today in Las Vegas:

  1. The number of jobs in Nevada dropped last month as the unemployment rate continues to climb. A new economic report revealed Nevada lost 1,300 jobs during December. However, jobs are still up from last year. Since December 2021, there has been a year-over-year increase of 3.8 percent. Currently, Nevada's total employment level is 1.48 million. (News3LV)
  2. A Las Vegas resident was arrested after a recent welfare check revealed a woman's corpse in an apartment. The incident occurred on Dec. 28, when police found a woman unresponsive in her apartment on the 7400 block of West Charleston. The woman was killed by multiple stab wounds. On Jan. 18, 33-year-old Michael Raston was arrested by a Nevada task force and charged with her murder. (KTNV 13 Action News Las Vegas)
  3. Omelette fans are having a hard time these days. Egg prices have been steadily rising for some time, and a new report revealed Nevada ranked No. 4 for most expensive eggs in the country. The average cost of a dozen eggs in the state will cost $6.07. Hawaii topped the list with a price of $9.73 per dozen eggs. The average cost of a dozen eggs in the United States is $4.25. (NEWS3 LV)
