  1. The Vegas Justice League, a local organization that uses donations from private citizens to fund DNA testing for cold cases, helped to fund the testing that led to a suspect in a cold case murder of two women from nearly three decades ago. The suspect is dead, but the police department and the victims' families now have answers. Since its founding in 2020, Vegas Justice League has helped fund DNA testing to solve six cold cases. 2. The Super Bowl may not be in Nevada, but Harry Reid International Airport officials caution the public to expect hundreds of thousands of visitors to Las Vegas for the game. Officials warned that the expected crowds would increase traffic at the airport and on its surrounding roads and place a high demand on rideshare services. (Subscription: Las Vegas Review-Journal)
  3. The new Wildfire casino in downtown Las Vegas officially opened on Friday at noon, just in time to welcome crowds for the Super Bowl. The casino features 200 slot machines and table games, and the layout ensures that you can see a TV from anywhere on the floor or enjoy sports games on the 15 stacked 65-inch TVs at the bar.
