Las Vegas Woman Killed During Attempted Robbery Identified

Police say Celia Luna was shot and killed during an attempted robbery on Thursday morning.

LAS VEGAS, NV - Police have released more details about a murder that occurred yesterday on N. Jones Blvd in Las Vegas on Thursday morning. A woman was opening a cash checking business when she was shot during what police believe to be an attempted robbery. She was later pronounced dead at University Medical Center.

The victim has been identified as Celia Luna and a GoFundMe account has been set up in her memory. Her family spoke to KTNV Las Vegas on Thursday.

"This morning tragedy struck our family. Two men gunned down a wonderful human being, they shot her and ended her life. They left our family with a huge hole that can never be filled. They took a good mom, a great grandmother, an aunt, a sister a friend! A life tragically ended, she fought for her life but sadly did not make it. We are only at the beginning of our trial, we have a long road ahead of us and we are asking that you please help our family, anything will be greatly appreciated. She deserves to be laid to rest in the best way possible.From the bottom of our hearts, thank u in advance! She may not be physically here, but she will forever live on and be remembered," the GoFundMe account says.

Police believe that the victim was entering the business to open the store for the day she was followed by two suspects who attempted to rob her. During the altercation she was shot, a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police release said. Police said that two suspects who can only be described as black males wearing dark clothing were spotted fleeing the scene and were last scene running across Jones Blvd. into a residential neighborhood.
