Eight gun shop burglaries and attempted burglaries at southern New Hampshire gun shops over the past five months are being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The most recent attempted burglary was early Sunday morning in Hooksett where would-be gun thieves smashed a rear window at Shooters Outpost but couldn't get in the building. In September, gun thieves shattered the door and glass cases of Milford Firearms and stole more than 20 guns "in less than a minute," according to store owner Nick D'Augustine who offered a $10,000 reward. In a written statement, the ATF said that guns stolen from legitimate stores in the hands of violent criminals "pose a serious threat" to community safety.
