Here are the top stories in Bedford today:

  1. Congratulations Christopher Masiello, chairman and CEO of The Masiello Group, Ltd. who was named by Swanepoel Power 200 as one of the most powerful and influential executives in the real estate industry for 2021. He joins executives of some of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry. Masiello started The Masiello Group from a single office in Keene and now oversees 1,000 agents, employees, and affiliates including offices in Bedford, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts. In addition to Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate The Masiello Group, Masiello also leads related businesses, including Great East Title, SVN Commercial, and the Real Estate Institute of New England. 2. A shout out to Heather McGrail of Bedford, who was named interim leader of The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. McGrail, who is the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce’s vice president of membership and community partnerships, will become the organization’s interim president and CEO on Jan. 31. McGrail has worked for the chamber for nearly five years offering more than two decades of nonprofit and corporate experience. (New Hampshire Business Review).
  3. The planned 5g network rollout for Verizon and AT&T this week may delay airline travel. The airline industry warned that thousands of flights could be grounded or delayed if the rollout of the 5G network takes place near major airports. The new high-speed 5G service operates on radio frequencies that are close to those used to measure the height of aircraft above the ground. The Federal Communications Commission in 2020 set a buffer between the 5G and the spectrum that planes use, but FAA Administrator Stephen Dickson, whose agency is responsible for aviation safety, notified the FCC of a potential problem. If you are flying into a major airport from the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, make sure the possible delays won't impact your travel plans. Travel safely! You can read more here: (WMUR)
  4. Free COVID-19 rapid test kits are now available through the USPS website. The free rapid tests enable you to test for COVID-19 four times at home. Households in the U.S. can order one set of 4 free at-home test kits at USPS.com. Orders can be placed today and will ship for free starting in late January.
