Another Violent Weekend In Manchester's Downtown Bar Scene

A man is fighting for his life after being stabbed outside Jewel Nightclub; a man dressed as a zombie also assaulted a man outside 603 Bar.

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police had another weekend full of investigations into violent crime in areas revolving around the Queen City bar scene.

On Saturday, police responded to 603 Bar and Grill at 1087 Elm St. for a report of an assault. Arriving officers, just before midnight, located a 27-year-old man who was bleeding. Through their investigation, police learned the victim had gotten into an altercation with another patron at the bar. The victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries according to police.

MPD Spokesperson Heather Hamel said, "the suspect was dressed in a zombie Halloween costume and his description is vague. He is described as a tall white male, approximately 6 feet tall, and was last seen heading north on Elm Street.”

In September, a man was shot at Cheers and Beers a bar just a few yards away from 603 Bar and Grill. A man was arrested in connection with the investigation.

The liquor commission temporarily suspended the license of the Cheers and Beer bar. An emergency hearing on the license of the bar is scheduled for Thursday.

On Monday, police received a report of a large fight near Jewel Nightclub at 61 Canal St. Officers arrived at the scene at 12:40 a.m. and learned a 31-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times and was suffering life-threatening injuries. Officers located the victim who was in the loading dock area of the nightclub. They provided medical care to the man prior to AMR arriving. The man was then taken to Elliot Hospital. His injuries are considered life-threatening.

Detectives are interviewing people who were in and around the area and reviewing surveillance videos. They closed off several blocks around the Jewel Nightclub Monday morning while they investigated the crime scene. More than 50 evidence markers were placed on the ground by detectives.

In July Police arrested two people accused of being involved in a shooting outside of Jewel nightclub.
