  2. A new EPA to designate PFAS forever chemicals as "hazardous" could give Hew Hampshire more tools in their fight with "forever" chemicals. The designation would provide state with access to more tools to help remove PFAS chemicals from the soil and water. Communities with toxic levels of PFAS contamination, like Merrimack and Bedford, had wells permanently closed due to dangerous levels of PFAS contamination from the Saint Gobain plastics plant. The Coakley Landfill and the former Pease Air Force Base are already Superfund sites due to PFAs and other toxic pollutants that pose a hazard to humans and animals in southern New Hampshire.
