BCTV to Air Special on "Heroes Behind the Badge"

Here are five things you should know in Bedford today.

1. An evening with "Heroes Behind the Badge". Beginning Friday, June 14, BCTV will begin airing a show on the recent event held at Bedford High School, which was hosted by the Bedford Police Association and featured a rare screeining of a powerful movie that focuses on the reality that, on average, a police officer is killed every 54 hours in the United States. 2. Break out the beach balls! Bedford High School's graduation is set for this Saturday, June 15 at 10 a.m. at the BHS football stadium (inside, if raining).

3. The weatherman says ... Today's forecast calls for a cloudy and rainy morning with scattered thunderstorms possible throughout the afternoon. Weather.com calls for a 70-percent chance of rain today with a high of 60 degrees and an overnight low of 54 degrees.

4. On this day ... June 11, 1979, the world bid farewell to John Wayne. "The Duke" died of cancer at age 72 after a long career epitomizing the role of an iconic American cowboy in dozens of classic westerns.

5. On the agenda. The Bedford Parks & Recreation Commission is scheduled to meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the BCTV Bedford Town Meeting Room, and the Bedford Republican Committee gathers in the McAllaster Room at the Bedford Public Library at 7 p.m. The Bedford Town Council meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the BCTV Bedford Town Meeting Room.
