Here are the top stories today in Bedford:
- A shout out to New Hampshire Conservation Officer Ken St. Pierre, Black Bear Project Leader Andrew Timmins and USDA Bear Technician John Sojka. They are the New Hampshire wildlife heroes who captured a bear cub after his mother was struck and killed by a car in Wakefield on Sept. 14, according to a recent social media post. Fish and Game officials said the orphaned cub would have died if they hadn't managed to capture it. Thankfully, the cub is now at the internationally renowned Kilham Bear Center in Lyme, New Hampshire, where it "will be rehabilitated to an age where it can survive in the wild on its own.” (Subscription/The Union Leader)

And if you have an event to share, like a cooking class or conference, there’s no better place to share it than Patch’s event calendar. On Wednesday, Sept 21, in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire, there will be a curated sale of mid-century modern furniture, artwork, studio pottery, and Swedish/Danish housewares. The event is on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Find out more about this event, and other things to do this week in the Bedford area: (Bedford Patch)
- Queen Elizabeth II's life, legacy, and recent week-long memorial service and funeral have been an inspiration to the world. The Queen, who served for 70 years, had a lasting impact on the people of Bedford, and around the world. There are many interesting books and movies about her legacy and life. Stories include "biographies, fiction and even a few mysteries!" Spend more time with this remarkable woman of royalty and grace, who devoted her life to the service of others, at the Bedford Public Library: "Remembering Queen Elizabeth II." (Bedford Patch)
