Check Out Bedford's State-of-the-Art Call Center
Bedford Police say transition into state-of-the-art call center has been relatively smooth.
The Bedford Police Department communications center handled nearly 30,000 calls in 2012, many from surrounding communities during power outages like those created during Hurricane Sandy.
Now, with the help of roughly $154,000 in New Hampshire Homeland Security Grants, combined with capital reserve funds, the Bedford call center has the ability to back up any agency in southern New Hampshire, said Lt. Scott Plumer, who was charged with coordinating the modernization of the Bedford communications department.
The new state-of-the-art facility, which was completed in March, has been accepted with few hitches, said Plumer, who noted the construction crews gutted the former communication center before installing all new wiring, technologically-advanced radio and computer equipment, ergonomic furniture and much more.
