Bedford Easter Egg Hunt Raises More than $15,000
Event benefited Our Promise to Nicholas Foundation.
Submitted by The MOMS Club of Bedford:
Easter was in full swing as the Our Promise to Nicholas (OPTN) Easter Egg Hunt drew in more than 1,100 guests to enjoy the fun filled festivities at the NH Sportsplex in Bedford. The fields were alive with eggs and smiling faces, as children scurried about for those coveted treats. The Egg Hunt, now in its 5th year, was by far the largest and most extravagant event yet, raising over $15,000. The OPTN Foundation is proud to have the dedication of the community in support of finding a cure for Batten Disease. Batten is a currently fatal neurodegenerative disease which afflicts hundreds of children in the United States including nine-year-old Bedford, NH, resident Nicholas Dainiak.

The MOMS Club of Bedford, organizers of the event, worked for several months prepping for the big day, gaining sponsorships, vendors and community support. Partnering with returning corporate sponsors: the NH Sportsplex, Catholic Medical Center, and IRA Lexus of Bedford, the feeling of success was enjoyed by all. “We are fortunate to have a business community that cares about experiences like these and are thrilled that last year’s sponsors are once again supporting OPTN’s mission to help fight and raise awareness for Batten Disease. We are appreciative of all of the community support and donations large and small, which make this event possible,” said MOMS Club of Bedford Vice President Suzanne Bergeron, who chaired this year’s event.
Stuffing 6,000 eggs brings people together in the most positive state of mind. Knowing that Nicholas, in his own way, brought so many families, volunteers and community members together embodies the spirit of Easter, and the love of a family working tirelessly for the hope of one day finding a cure for such a debilitating disease. Outside of the raffle baskets, bake sales, exhibitors, live entertainment, clowns and candy, a sense of deep pride was held for the work accomplished, the memories shared, and the reflection that on this day a difference was made.
