Bedford Fire Department Offers 'File of Life'

Service may help save lives.

Submitted by the Bedford Fire Department:

The Bedford Fire Department is offering the “File of Life” to Bedford residents.  The service offers residents a form to provide their personal health information and store it conspicuously on their home refrigerator in a plastic magnetized sleeve.  Bedford Fire Department Emergency Medical Service personnel are trained to look for this to gain patient information quickly and easily.  The benefit is quality patient care.  Time saved gathering information is critical in life saving situations when seconds count.  Information provided is medical history, medications and emergency contacts. In the case of illness or injury, a patient is not always able to communicate with ambulance personnel and may not have anyone else at home to help provide the information.  The File of Life will aid in gathering this information.  Bedford Fire Department urges residents that may need its ambulance service to obtain a File, complete the form and update it as needed.  The File of Life can be obtained at the Bedford Fire Department.  If you have questions about the service, please contact Scott Hunter, Fire Inspector: 603-792-1369 or shunter@bedfordnh.org.
