Here are the top stories today in Bedford:

  1. The Bedford Annual Memorial Weekend "Hometown Parade” will be on Sunday, May 29. Join in the celebration by marching in the parade, sponsoring a specialty unit, volunteering, or attending. The 2022 theme is "Freedom through Unity,” organizers said on the Bedford Parks & Recreation website. You will see floats by community organizations around the parade theme. The Parade starts at 1 p.m. (line-up at Bedford High School driveway) and will go down County Road and up to Liberty Hill Road and ends at McKelvie Intermediate School, where vendors will be set up on the school grounds with refreshments. You can find more information here: (Bedford Parks & Recreation)
  2. New nonstop and expanded service to Charlotte will begin on June 9 on American Airlines, the airline announced on the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) website. The new flights on larger planes will start June 3. MHT also announced they will resume nonstop flights to Chicago on June 3. With the nice weather and more places to travel, things are definitely looking up! You can find out more here: (Fly Manchester)
  3. The Bedford Police Department reminds everyone that May is Motorcycle Awareness Month. Even if you'd don't own a motorcycle, you can help make the roads safer for everyone. In 2020, there were 5,579 motorcyclists killed in traffic crashes, and the Bedford Police department wants everyone to help bring those numbers down, they said in a recent Facebook post. One thing drivers and motorcyclists should always do is "look twice" before changing lanes. Enjoy the open road and beautiful weather — safely! (Facebook)
  4. If you're looking for antiques and a flea market this weekend, the second annual Brimfield North Antique Show & Flea Market will be on Saturday, May 28-Sunday, May 29 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The event features 300 vendors and food trucks, with music, entertainment, and activities for kids. Admission is $5. per person and children under 12 are free. Special VIP admission for $50 will be Friday afternoon from 3-7 p.m. Advance tickets are available, or you can buy them when you arrive.
