Here are the top stories today in Bedford:

  1. Scam alert! Bedford police are warning residents about a scammer who calls saying they received a subpoena and have to pay. The Bedford Police Department phone number of 603-472-5113 is listed on the caller ID. Police say, if you receive a call like this, do not give out any personal information, adding that the police "will never ask for money or gift cards via a phone call. This person does not work for or represent the Bedford Police Department," officials said. (Bedford NH Police Department via Facebook)
  2. Are you ready for Halloween? Trick-or-treating will take place in Bedford on Oct. 31, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you plan to visit a nearby community, here are all of the trick-or-treat dates and times in New Hampshire. (If the town you are looking for is not listed, WMUR recommends contacting your local police department’s business line or your town hall for more information). The list will be updated as towns notify WMUR. Here are the most recent days and times: (WMUR Manchester)
  3. Do you need a gap year? More New Hampshire students are taking one after high school before starting college, or taking a break while attending college. Bridget Robichaud, Bedford High School graduate, said she " decided to take the upcoming semester off from college to re-evaluate." Others took time off from their studies to earn money or "map out their next steps." There's one thing they all had in common: "they knew they needed to take time off, and that is exactly what they did." (New Hampshire Business Review)
