Bedford Teen on Top of Geographic World

14-year-old flexes academic prowess on world stage.

Neelam Sandhu may be 14-years old, but she already has a lifetime of experience and knowledge in world geography.

The outgoing Ross. A Lurgio Middle School student – a top-10 finalist in the 2013 U.S. Geography Bee – recently traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia where she helped the United States win the 11th-annual National Geographic World Championships.

Now, as Sandhu heads to high school, she has a gold medal to prove that she is among the most knowledgeable geography students in the world, having competed against 17 other world regions to earn the crown.
