1. Don't forget the Northern New England Book Fair on Friday, June 3, from 4-7:30 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Douglas N. Everett Arena, 15 Loudon Road in Concord. You will find books, pocket books, and ephemera for all ages. Well-known illustrator Ruth Sanderson will be signing her books on Saturday, and the Abbot-Downing Historical Society will be exhibiting an authentic Concord Coach! Admission is $5. 2. Congressman Chris Pappas "is working to protect our health and safety and hold polluters accountable," according to a letter published in the Concord Monitor. The bill, called The Clean Water Standards for PFAS Act, was introduced by Pappas earlier this month and aims to "set water quality criteria" and "support communities" with contaminated water. Communities including Bedford, Merrimack, and others have water supplies that have been permanently contaminated with PFAS chemicals. The Clean Water Standards for PFAS Act would regulate PFAS "forever" chemicals under the Clean Water Act to "prevent manufacturers and other polluters from contaminating our nation’s waterways with toxic levels of PFAS."
