1. What does California's megadrought have to do with Bedford? New Hampshire? The lasting West Coast drought is taking its toll on farmers who produce most of the nation's food and threatening food production. Severe water shortages in California, Nevada, and Arizona are limiting the amount of water that can be drained from the once-plentiful Colorado River for crop irrigation. The Colorado River is an essential resource for Arizona farmers and is only at 39 percent capacity right now. Regulators have to cut 65 percent of the water supply to farmers to preserve what's left. The Throwback Brewery in North Hampton is a brewery and restaurant on Hobbs Farm, a 12-acre farm in North Hampton, that offers freshly brewed beer with an ice skating rink in the winter. It's "a small, inspired brewery, farm, and restaurant dedicated to crafting delicious, farm-fresh beers and food from local ingredients," according to their website. They use as many locally-sourced ingredients as possible when brewing beer. And it's not just the beer that's cool.
