Fire Permits Now Required in Bedford

Several brush fires and fire permit violations have already been reported.

A Saturday night brush fire on Donald Street, near the new Market Basket, is just one in a series of small fires that Bedford firefighters have already responded to this year, and Bedford Fire Department is now reminding residents that fire permits are now required for any burning.

According to Bedford Deputy Fire Chief Mark Klose, all or most of the snow has melted off the ground and recent dry weather conditions have increased the risk of brush fires.

In fact, the National Weather Service, late last week, issued an brush fire advisory due to the unseasonably dry conditions combined with gusty winds, and an elevated risk remains.
