Here are the top stories today in Bedford:
- A dog with a rare genetic condition arrived at Animal Rescue League of N.H. in Bedford recently. The sweet dog arrived in a group of 14 dogs and 24 cats from a partnering shelter in South Carolina. It was soon discovered that one of the dogs, Tara, had a rare abnormality. Dr. Stephanie Magnarelli said she was a "hermaphrodite,” which means she has both male and female anatomy and had to perform surgery on her to "prevent further medical issues later on in life." She is now recovering and waiting for a special, loving home. If you'd like to donate to help cost of her surgery and other needs, you can find out more here: (Manchester Ink Link)
- Saturday is the last day to order mums from the Bedford Garden! Order "stunning" 9-inch potted mums grown in New Hampshire for only $8.50 each. Orders and payments are due by Aug. 27. You will find Mum Sale order forms at the club's website under the Mum Sale tab: www.BedfordGardenClubNH.org. They are also available in the foyer of the Bedford Public Library. Mum orders will be ready for pickup on Sept. 8 from 2-6 p.m. at the parking lot of the Bedford Village Common. (Bedford Patch)

The End of Summer Farmers Market will be held in the parking lot of our favorite watering hole, Murphy's Taproom on Route 101 in Bedford. Find fresh local produce and many other unique items.
