Fallen Firefighter Honored 20 Years After Line Of Duty Death
Watch as MFD Firefighters honor fallen firefighter David Anderson who died in the line of duty twenty years ago trying to save two children
MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester Firefighters, family, and friends of MFD Firefighter David Anderson gathered outside of Manchester fire headquarters on December 23, 2020.
They joined together to remember on the 20th anniversary of Firefighter Anderson’s line of duty death.
On December 23, 2000, Firefighter Anderson responded at 7:30 a.m. with members of the Engine 11 crew to a residential fire on Elm Street.

When crews arrived firefighters were advised of two children trapped in the building, and they made a valiant effort to attempt to save them.
Firefighter Anderson came out of the building after removing the two children and collapsed. Firefighters and EMS attempted to revive him, but he passed away. Two boys age 14 and 17 were also killed in the fire.

Many of the Manchester Firefighters who were on scene that day were at the ceremony and spoke of the memories they had of him.
MFD Firefighters brought a wreath remembering FF Anderson and placed it below the fallen firefighter memorial outside of fire headquarters.
The final call was played while fellow firefighters stood at attention saluting, and the bell was rung to signal his last call.
