Here are the top 3 stories today in Bedford:

  1. A careening SUV crashed in Manchester on Second Street after a high-speed chase by State Police and Bedford Police. The vehicle with temporary plates reportedly fled from officers who attempted to stop it as it headed to Manchester. Bedford and State Police discontinued pursuit and gave a description of the vehicle to area towns. But at 11:08 p.m., 911 police and emergency responders received calls about a multi-vehicle crash in the area of 140 Second St. The driver crashed into a fence and several parked cars and was found unresponsive. After he was given Narcan, ambulance medics asked police for assistance when the man became combative. Witnesses said the SUV was traveling at a high speed with the headlights off. (Bedford Patch)
  2. Bedford book lovers, with the mystery-thriller film, "Where the Crawdads Sing," now playing in theaters, there has been a surge in interest to read the 2018 novel of the same name by Delia Owens. The film was produced by Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter. You can find this book and other titles at our very own Bedford Public Library. (Patch)
  3. There's a lot happening at the Bedford Public Library! Thursday The BPL announced that Thursday Theater is returning to the Library in August, with the latest Downton Abbey movie. Bring your favorite snack and drink and find out what happens when the Crawley family "goes on a grand journey to the South of France to uncover the mystery of the dowager countess's newly inherited villa."
