Joppa Hill Road Construction Continues

Here are five things you should know in Bedford today.

1. Roadwork roundup. Joppa Hill Road is closed to through vehicles from the Joppa Hill Athletic Fields north to Perry Road through June 28. Access to the athletic fields will be from the south or North Amherst Road. Access to the Joppa Hill Farm will be from the north or Perry Road. Click here for more information.

2. The weatherman says ... Another pleasant day awaits as today's high temperature is predicted to be at or around 75 degrees with a mix of sunshine and clouds in the morning, a mostly cloudy afternoon and a 10-percent chance of rain.

3. No common achievement. After years of thoughtful planning, the Bedford Village Common is now ready for the public to enjoy. Members of the Bedford Village Common Development Committee and town officials, this Sunday, hold a grand opening celebration at ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. For more information, click here.

4. Being a good neighbor. Anheuser-Busch Brewery employees are volunteering today, June 5, with the New Hampshire Rivers Council to help clean up McQuesten Brook. 

5. On this day ... June 6, 1944, U.S. and allied forces landed in Normandy and other parts of Europe, what History.com calls the "beginning of the end" of World War II, D-Day in Europe.
