Here are the top stories in Bedford today:

  1. Residents of Merrimack, Litchfield, Bedford, and Londonderry are invited to attend an online public information session on Jan. 27 to ask questions about the Department of Health & Human Services' ongoing investigation into cancer from PFAS exposure. The New Hampshire State Cancer Registry found a higher than expected number of people with kidney and renal cancers in Merrimack, New Hampshire, after PFAS contamination was found in ground water from the Saint-Gobain plastics plant. The New Hampshire DHHS online meeting will provide updates on cancer rates based on recent data and answer questions. The online meeting will be on Thursday, Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. Register to receive the meeting link. Pre-registration is recommended. You can read more here: (Patch)
  2. Bedford sophomore Austin Kasyjanski is turning heads and getting noticed on the basketball court. During Wednesday’s NHIAA boys basketball game between Bedford and Merrimack, Rivier University men’s assistant coach Jim Mignault was heard saying "that kid can play,” to the man sitting next to him during the third quarter. Kasyjanski scored 24 points, the highest in the game, in Bedford’s 61-46 win over Merrimack. You can read more here: (The Union Leader)
  3. A shout out to Joe Mendola of NAI Norwood Group in Bedford for the sale of a self-storage and a self-serve car wash facility in Concord, New Hampshire to a private equity investor. The self-storage facility has 443 units and a self-serve car with two automatic bays, four self-serve bays, and one bay for tractor height-size vehicles. Mendola, who is the Argus Self Storage Advisors broker affiliate representing Northern New England, said they are seeing "continued demand" for self-storage facilities in all of their markets in New England.
