1. A burning cargo ship adrift in the Atlantic Ocean has thousands of luxury cars that were headed for New England. The cargo ship named the “Felicity Ace” was transporting 4,000 to 5,000 high-end automobiles from Germany to Rhode Island, including Volkswagen, Porsche and Bentley's. The shipment included a Bentley heading for a Massachusetts dealership owned by Ernie Boch Jr. who said the fire could have "a major impact" on the local auto industry already experiencing supply side issues. 2. Where are the fastest places to charge an electric car? While automakers promote the advantages of 350 kW DC fast charge stations that provide "ultra-fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes," John Goreham wrote in a recent TorqueNews article that most charging stations are slower than you think. Automakers use theoretical DC fast charging with a very high kW (kilowatt) charger, but most EV chargers in the Massachusetts and New Hampshire area were not high-speed chargers, but this may not be a disadvantage. Extremely fast DC chargers may not be ideal for long-term battery life. The fastest DC chargers in our area are a 50-kW charging station located on Huntington Avenue in Boston and at Whole Foods Market in Bedford, New Hampshire. 3. A shout out to Bedford's TFMoran. TFMoran engineers provided surveying, civil engineering, landscape architecture and permitting services for a Catholic Medical Center new hospital expansion. The 70,000-square-foot hospital expansion will add a six-story addition to the existing hospital on McGregor Street in Manchester. TFMoran also conducted a parking study for the project.
