Here are the top stories today in Bedford:
- For many, the workplace is 'wherever they want it to be.' More than 50 percent of employers are looking for remote employees outside of their office locations, said the Robert Half employment agency in February. When the pandemic hit, Michelle "Shelly" Saquet Temple of Tilton, New Hampshire couldn't leave New Zealand but was offered a remote job by a fellow attorney. But some people say they would like to return to an office setting. Jessica Grill, 26, is working from home in Bedford, where she grew up, likes the separation of home and office, and said she is looking forward to returning to work at a Boston Ad agency. - Spring is here, and the seed library is open at the Bedford Public Library. Thank you to volunteers from the Bedford Garden Club and the library staff who packed seeds in small packets for Bedford residents to take home and plant. Across from the main desk, you will find packets of seeds in boxes for a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers to plant in your home garden. You can "check out" seeds the same way you would "check out" a library book. There are seeds for first-time gardeners and new plants for more experienced gardeners. You can read more about this story here: (The Bedford Public Library)
- If you were on River Road in Bedford at 6:30 on Friday, you may have seen an injured man running on the side of the road. When responders arrived at a single car crash into a Jersey barrier on the Everett Turnpike just South of the South River Road overpass, they found an empty car. State troopers and Bedford police searched for the driver that witnesses said ran from the scene. Bedford police found the bleeding man near 169 South River Road. He was arrested and taken to a hospital. It's not known if any charges will be filed. You can read the full story here: (Bedford Patch)
