Manchester Police Investigate 2 People Stabbed In Downtown Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH — Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred on a busy street corner in downtown Manchester.

Police responded to a reported fight at the corner of Amherst and Elm streets on Friday just before 7 p.m. They arrived and found a 42-year-old man on the ground with multiple stab wounds to the chest and possible stab wounds to the leg. A trauma alert was activated at the Elliot Hospital. According to MPD Spokesperson Heather Hamel, his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Several officers flooded the area and used a K-9 to search, and set up a perimeter as they began searching streets and alleys.

Shortly afterward, police learned a 25-year-old man had been located on Bridge Street, also suffering from a stab wound. He, too, was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident was captured on video at a local business, which provided police with good information on the description of those involved.

Witnesses described the incident involving two men who appeared to be homeless due to the large amount of belongings they had. One man punched the other, and the fight continued until one person was left on the ground with stab wounds.

A witness described a large amount of needles and what appeared to possibly be drugs on the ground where the fight took place.

Police surrounded the area with crime scene tape and are investigating.

Through the investigation, the police determined that the two incidents were connected. All involved parties are accounted for, and there is no further risk to the public.
