Manchester Police SWAT Respond To Burglary In Progress

MPD officers took extra precautions due to previous incidents at the address including an 8-hour standoff in May. No burglary was found.

MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester police officers, and members of the MPD SWAT team responded to a residence at 1454 Union Street on Wednesday for a burglary in progress.

The homeowner told police she had been inside the residence and heard a noise coming from in or above the garage. Voices were also reportedly heard, according to MPD Spokesperson Heather Hamel.

Officers safely removed the woman, and several dogs from the residence and set up a perimeter. Manchester police assisted the woman and secured multiple dogs inside the MPD transport van at the scene.

The address is known to law enforcement. In May, US Marshals attempting to serve a warrant were met with gunfire. The incident was followed by a stand-off lasting more than 8 hours. Given the history, police took all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the neighborhood police said.

A perimeter was set up around the house and SWAT personnel was deployed. Officers utilized a drone in the area flying around the outside of the house and over the general area. After approximately 2 hours, officers were able to clear the building and confirm there were no signs of a break-in.
