- A shout out to the 19-piece Bedford Big Band! They will be performing with Boston trumpet virtuoso Jay Daly on Saturday, March 19, at the Derry Opera House. The show, on 29 West Broadway St. in Derry, begins at 7:30 p.m. They will perform music “From Stardust to Penny Lane: A Celebration of Popular Trumpet.” The show was written by Daly and arranged by George Darrah. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. The show is free for children ages 12 and under. You can find out more here: (Bedford Patch)
- There was a lot o' Irish spirit in New Hampshire on Saint Patrick's Day. The Angel City Music Hall on Elm Street in Manchester was serving green eggs and ham and bangers and mash with $3 Guinness pints, and The Spain Brothers and Green Heron played at the Rex Theatre in Manchester. If you are looking for a post-St. Patrick’s Day celebration, Tupelo Music Hall in Derry on Sunday will feature the Glengharry Bhoys at 7 p.m. You read the full story here (with a subscription): (The Union Leader)
- March is Maple Sugar Month in New Hampshire. Warmer temperatures and longer days signal that maple syrup is starting to flow through New England maple trees, even if there may be lingering patches of snow. Maple Sugaring Month, hosted by the New Hampshire Maple Producers Association, takes place over four weeks from March 5-26. You can meet maple producers, see how maple sugar is tapped, enjoy free samples and attend events in the coming weeks at places like the Charmingfare Farm’s Maple Express in Candia. They offer 20-minute draft horse-driven wagon rides to visit an authentic sugar shack. You can read more about this story and other maple syrup producers here: (New Hampshire Magazine)
