Here are the top stories today in Bedford:

  1. Stormy weather is expected to move through New Hampshire over the next two days. Bedford may see hail and strong winds, with rain, thunder and lightning. Storms are expected to move in late Friday night, early Saturday morning, and again Saturday afternoon and evening. (Bedford Patch)
  2. Thursday Theater is back at the Bedford Public Library! Bring your own "small snack and drink" to see a movie on the big screen! In July, the BPL is showing a semi-autobiographical film "which chronicles the life of a working-class family and their young son's childhood during the tumult of the late 1960s in Northern Ireland." You can find out more here: (Bedford (NH) Public Library via Facebook)
  3. It will be a busy Fourth of July weekend! If you're heading to a fireworks display or taking a ride to the beach this weekend, here are a few safety tips to keep in mind, according to the American Red Cross. We all know that fireworks can be dangerous. Seeing professional fireworks is always safer! If you live in a place where home fireworks are allowed, never give fireworks to children to hold or handle. Also, never point fireworks toward people, animals, homes or anything flammable. And just in case, always keep water nearby. If you are headed to the beach, it's important to get out of the water at the first sign of lightning or thunder and go inside! The Red Cross said not to go back in the water for at least 30 minutes after the last lightning flash. You can find more safety reminders here. Have a fun — and safe— holiday weekend, Bedford!
