New Location Proves Fruitful for Bedford Farmer's Market
Organizers embracing positive results.
For years, the Bedford Farmer's Market was located at Benedictine Park, off Wallace Road.
In 2013, organizers sought a more centrally-located spot to set up shop and found just that at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish at 190 Meetinghouse Road, roughly a mile off South River Road and Bedford's bustling retail district.
Bedford Town Manager Jessie Levine suggested the location, said Bedford Farmer's Market President Susanne Stretch, and this past spring both church officials and the Bedford Planning Board approved the move.
The market opened on June 18, and Stretch said the feedback from the each of the first three weeks has been nothing but positive from both vendors and residents.
The Bedford Farmer's Market – which offers "a wide range of locally grown or madefruits, vegetables, cheeses, wine, berries, flowers, plants, herbs, soaps, fish, baked goods, breads, coffee, and much more" – is open each Tuesday from 3-6 p.m., through Oct. 15.
