Daley – who was hired by the Bedford School District in 2002 following a three-year tenure as a guidance councilor at Webster Elementary School in Manchester – earned the position over two other highly-qualified finalists and many others who applied for the position when the search process began roughly four months ago.

“We are fortunate to have someone with Mrs. Daley’s experience and familiarity with Peter Woodbury School as our next principal," said Bedford Superintendent Tim Mayes. "She has an excellent relationship with the students and parents of Peter Woodbury School, which will facilitate a smooth transition in leadership. Cheryl is a learner who collaborates with her staff, students and parents to get things accomplished. She was one of several key people involved in the Peter Woodbury playground project and has served as the point person in developing and implementing Peter Woodbury’s Plan to improve learning for students with disabilities.”

The selection process was guided by a 10-member search committee comprised of School Board members, Peter Woodbury School staff, and parents, in addition to building and district level administrators.

The latter stages of the search process included a visit to the school of the finalists and day-long visits to Peter Woodbury School for the candidates to meet with students, staff, parents and community members.

A 1992 graduate of the University of Maine, Daley earned her Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Bridgewater State College in Mass. in 1996, and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Educational Leadership at Bridgewater State in 2002.

Daley is scheduled to begin her tenure as PWS Principal on July 1.
