NH State Workers Receive 1.5 Percent Raise
New Hampshire state workers earned a 1.5 percent raise and another raise of the same percentage is on the way in January.

CONCORD, NH — State workers this week received a 1.5 percent raise and another raise of the same percentage is on the way this winter. The raise took effect Friday and applies to about 8,000 workers, according to The Associated Press.
The raises were included in a new contract this year approved by state workers' unions. The second 1.5 percent raise takes effect January 1. State corrections officers this month received a 9.1 percent raise that "reflects a market adjustment to better align corrections officers' pay with other states," Governor Chris Sununu said in a statement earlier this year.
Workers agreed to new leave policies to "will allow the State to reduce administrative costs and ensure that incentives are structured in a fair manner," Sununu added.

A corrections officers' union official said the raise is appropriate for the "brave men and women of the NH Department of Corrections (who) work long hours in a very dangerous environment."
