Why History Doesn't Have to Be a Mystery in Bedford

Here are five things you should know today in Bedford.

1. Educate yourself on Bedford's past! Stop by the Bedford Historical Society Museum today or any other Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to noon, for a weekly open house. Have some of your questions about Bedford's history answered and take the opportunity to purchase Bedford's own Stevens-Buswell CQ Coffee, some Bedford books, pewter ornaments and/or handmade pin creations by Dizzy Cupcakes. Information is also available pertaining to some of the Historical Society's upcoming events such as the third-annual  "Anything and Everything Yard Sale" on Sept. 28. While you're there, feel free to purchase your $5 shopping pass for Macy's Shop For A Cause on Saturday, August 24. For more information, click here.

2. Whole Foods coming to Nashua? Folks at Whole Foods confirmed it yesterday to Nashua Patch. Would you like to see a Whole Foods nearby?

3. The weatherman says ...
So all the rain predicted for Tuesday barely arrived, but we're OK with that. Especially because today's forecast sets the stage for several beautiful days in a row. Today calls for sunny skies with a high near 76. Tonight, clear with a low around 50.

4. Don't forget your grass skirt! The Purple Finch Café is celebrating two years of great food and fun in Bedford this Thursday, Aug. 22, beginning at 7 a.m. Join the festivities and wear a Hawaiian Shirt, and don't forget to try The Purple Finch's Big Kahuna Burger!

5. New Student Orientation. Just moved to Bedford and have a student registered to attend Ross A. Lurgio Middle School for the 2013-'14 school year? Meet the administration and take a tour of the building at the school's new student orientation on Aug. 14 at 1 p.m. Those with additional questions may call the Lurgio Middle School's main office at 310-9100.
