One Killed In Bedford Crash On Interstate 293, Route 101 Offramp

Londonderry man identified as victim of the crash. State police say the driver of a Dodge pickup was killed when he struck a tree.

BEDFORD, NH — New Hampshire State Police received a report of a vehicle off the road in the area of Interstate 293 south and Route 101 offramps on Sunday.

State police arrived at about 11 a.m. and found a heavily damaged 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck over the embankment of the offramp. Troopers immediately determined the driver of the vehicle was deceased. Bedford Fire and EMS responded to assist state police in searching the area of the truck to be assured there were no other people involved.

State Police identified the driver as Christopher M. Brooks, 47, of Londonderry.

Brooks and his vehicle were the subjects of a missing person BOLO (“be-on-the-lookout”) distributed to police agencies statewide on Jan. 22. The exact time of the crash is currently unknown but the initial investigation suggests the vehicle crashed well before the report of the vehicle was discovered.

The left lane of the offramp which is located behind the Bedford Whole Foods store was closed but traffic could continue travel in the area to Route 101.

State police summoned the Medical Examiner to the scene and NH DOT assisted while the scene was being processed.

The Bedford Fire Department and the Department of Transportation assisted the NH State Police on scene where the left lane was shut down for a lengthy period of time.
