A Pick-Up Truck And Its Driver Plunge Into River In Goffstown

GOFFSTOWN, NH — Goffstown fire, and police were dispatched to Moose Club Park for a vehicle that was in the Piscataquog River on Wednesday.

While en route, responders were advised the man in the vehicle was safely out of a pickup truck and was on land.

Goffstown fire arrived at the scene at about 9:10 p.m. and medically evaluated the man, and he did not require medical transport. Goffstown fire notified the NH Department of Environmental Services about the incident. Based on information gathered, and the steep incline of the embankment a decision was made to recover the vehicle on Thursday, in the daylight.

Duval’s Towing, Goffstown fire and police, and New Hampshire Environmental Services Spill Response team were on the scene Thursday morning to remove the vehicle from the water.

A member of Duval’s team entered the water securing devices to the truck, and then pull it out of the water and allowed it to drain. Using a large rotator-style tow truck, the pick-up was lifted up the embankment and placed on a flatbed ramp truck.

It appears the owner of the vehicle was working on the vehicle at a nearby house when the truck rolled from its parking spot. The man attempted to get into the vehicle stop the vehicle, but it traveled down the embankment into the river.

No one was injured in the incident.
