Plenty to Do in Bedford this Weekend

From free Friday films at the library, to fantastic high school theatrical, to a BCTV station tour, there are plenty of fun local things to do this weekend.

1. Get a look behind the camera ... Want to learn more about Bedford’s community access television station? Here's your chance. Bedford Community Television (BCTV) has scheduled an open  house for Saturday, May 11, from 11-3 p.m. This event offers you you opportunity to tour the station and witness, firsthand, what it takes to make BCTV one of the most well-recognized and award-laden community access television stations, not only in New Hampshire, but throughout New England. You'll also have the opportunity to learn how to get involved as a volunteer, whether it’s as a producer, host, or as a camera volunteer. Have a show idea?  Drop in and tell BCTV Director Bill Jennings and the BCTV staff about it. The station is located at 10 Meetinghouse Road. For more information, call 472-8288 or email the station directly at bctv@bedfordtv.com

2. Almost, Maine. See Bedford High School Theatre Company's not to be missed production of Almost, Maine.  Set in northern Maine with a cast of characters sure to win your heart, the play offers delightful glimpses of moments under the Northern Lights. Written by John Cariani, directed by Lisa Moore, and showcasing the beautiful sets Bedford High School has come to be known for, Almost, Maine is utterly charming. 3. Leave the young animals be. Reminder from NH Fish & Game that springtime brings out the baby animals, who shouldn't be handled by humans, no matter how cute they are. "People think they're doing a good deed, but they are often removing the animal from the care of its parents and potentially exposing themselves to the risk of disease. In particular, your actions may result in the animal having to be euthanized for rabies testing," says Kent Gustafson, of Fish & Game.
