Police: Argument At Cheers And Beers Resulted In Man Being Shot

Jordan Moura of Manchester is accused of shooting "J.C." in the abdomen. Moura faces an attempted first-degree murder charge.

MANCHESTER, NH — Jordan Moura, who is accused of shooting a man inside Cheers and Beers on Elm Street in Manchester, appeared in Hillsborough County North Court on Tuesday.

Moura is accused of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and two counts of falsifying physical evidence, all felonies.

Court documents outline the alleged details of what happened the night of the shooting. The victim identified as “J.C.,” was sitting at a VIP table inside the bar when a person later identified as Moura made a comment to J.C.’s sister S.C. and J.C. took exception to the comment and said something, a report stated.

The affidavit stated that Moura allegedly pushed the victim in the face and throat causing him to fall. Witnesses said he pulled a black handgun from his waistband and shot J.C. in the abdomen. One witness said Moura fired a shot at S.C. and missed, then shot J.C., and then fired one shot into the ceiling.

The victim exited the bar into the alley and was found by Manchester police, suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, the officer stated the bullet went “through and through” the victim's abdomen. Officers provided medical treatment until AMR and MFD arrived at the scene. An officer rode in the ambulance with the victim interviewing him while en route to the Elliot Hospital.

A description of the incident and the shooter was gathered from the victim. Officers at the scene spoke to several witnesses who were provided descriptions saying the man was possibly Hispanic, hair in a bun, dark eyes, and wearing a long sleeve with blue and white stripes.

A person told police he recognized the man as a regular customer from 603 bar which is located near Cheers and Beers. The person said he was on Facebook, using the name “Anthony Jordan.” Police put out a department-wide email and officers who had stopped Moura in August recognized him. The officers reviewed the video from the bar and confirmed it was Moura, the report stated.

Monday police stopped Moura and took him into custody on East Industrial Park Drive. When he was taken into custody and searched, a receipt for the sale of a gun was found. The gun was sold for $200 to Wildlife Sport Outfitters on Candia Road. The gun was described as a DiamondBack DB-9 9mm which matched the description seen in the video.

It was confirmed that Moura sold the gun on Sunday, a report stated. Investigators found that, before going to Wildlife Sport Outfitters, Moura had attempted to sell the firearm at Manchester Firing Line. They learned Moura was offered $50 and did not sell it because it wasn’t enough money.

The condition of the victim has not been released but the police originally called the injury serious.

Judge Amy Messer ordered that Jordan Moura be held on preventative detention, his defense attorneys asked that an evidentiary hearing be scheduled.
