Police Identify Man Found Deceased In The Merrimack River

Police say Jayson Martin, 45, of Manchester was found in the river on Dec. 30; he was a graduate of UNH, enjoyed the arts and the outdoors.

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester fire, police, and AMR ambulance responded to the report of a body in the Merrimack River near the area of Granite Street on Dec. 30.

Firefighters launched boats and worked from the shoreline to recover the man from the river.

Police have released the identity of the man and said the death does not appear to be suspicious in nature. The man was identified as Jayson Martin, 45, of Manchester.

An online obituary for Jayson Martin said, "Jayson was passionate for; nature, the arts, music, snowboarding, mountain biking, Jeep wranglers and martial arts.” It also said Martin was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire.

The discovery of Martin's body is one of more than a dozen people found deceased outside in the Manchester area during 2021. All the deaths have been considered not suspicious in nature.
