Police Release The Identity Of Two Men Found Dead In Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police, fire, and EMS responded to two different calls on Sept. 16 where deceased people were found.

Police and fire responded to the area of the Sewer Treatment Plant located at 300 Winston St. at about 6:50 p.m. for a 51-year-old unresponsive man. Manchester Fire and AMR located the man on the embankment near the Merrimack River.

Fire crews worked with Manchester police to bring the man up the steep embankment after police completed the investigation. Police identified the man as Eugene Fitzgerald, 51, who appears to have been homeless and living in the area.

Manchester Police Spokesperson Heather Hamel said the death does not appear to be suspicious but is pending toxicology test results.

At about 9:20 p.m. Fire, EMS and police were called to the area behind 120 Massabesic St. for an unresponsive man. When crews arrived they found a 41-year-old man deceased.

Police identified the man as Ronald Patten who Hamel said was homeless. His death does not appear to be suspicious but the final cause is pending the results from toxicology tests.

Manchester has had numerous people who are believed to be from the homeless community found deceased in Manchester during the last year.

On Aug. 11, a 31-year-old woman was found deceased in a vehicle in the parking lot of Market Basket on Elm Street. Police did not release her name but said the death didn’t appear to be suspicious but was awaiting toxicology test results.

On July 16, a man was found deceased on the steps of the Currier Art Museum on Beech Street. The identity and age of the man were not given by Manchester police, but they said the death did not appear to be suspicious.

On July 7, Manchester fire and police were called to the Merrimack River for a water rescue. When they arrived they found an adult male deceased in the river and moved him to the embankment behind a building on Commercial Street.

The man has been identified as Ryan Braley, 27 of Manchester. The cause and manner of death are pending toxicology test results according to MPD Spokesperson Heather Hamel.

Earlier in the day on July 7, Manchester fire, police and AMR ambulance were dispatched to the Vine Street parking garage for an unresponsive person in the stairwell. When responders arrived they found an adult male deceased. Manchester police confirmed the person was a male in his twenties but have not released the name, manner or cause of death. Police have indicated the death does not appear to be suspicious.

Just two days prior to the two deaths another male was found deceased in or around an SUV under the Biron Street Bridge. Police confirmed the person was a male in his forties but have not released his name. The cause and manner of death have not been released, but police say the death does not appear to be suspicious.

Several bodies have been discovered in Manchester over the last year. In all cases, the police have not released the cause or manner of death and saying they do not appear to be suspicious. In most cases the identity is not released, making it harder for friends of missing people to verify who the person was.

On May 9, an adult male was found dead near the railroad tracks in the area of 780 North Commercial St. The identity has not been released by Manchester police, and the cause and manner of death remain have not been made public. At the time of the body being discovered Manchester police the death did not appear to be suspicious.

A body was found along the railroad tracks in the area of South Commercial Street on May 15th. The person was identified as Michael Madden, 64, of Manchester. Police have not released the cause or manner of death but don’t consider the death suspicious.

On April 24, the remains of a female were found near the Rockingham Rail Trail near Candia Road in Manchester. The person was identified as Nancy Burgess, 51 of Manchester. Burgess had been missing since 2015, and the body was discovered in an area recently cleared for the rail trail. The cause and manner of death were not released, however, police said they do not consider her death to be suspicious.
