Recovery Crew In Bedford Remove Aircraft From The Merrimack River
Workers from Anglin Aircraft Recovery work to remove the Castle Aviation aircraft. Michigan pilot Emanuel Vomvolakis died in the crash.
BEDFORD, NH — The site of a Friday night plane crash on the banks of the Merrimack River remains active with workers removing wreckage.
Several trucks parked in a Technology Drive lot appear to be from Anglin Aircraft Recovery a Clayton, a Deleware company that, according to its website, specializes in aircraft recovery.
From the east side of the river, workers can be seen pulling small pieces of debris from the water. Larger pieces of the aircraft including at least one engine was pulled up the embankment and loaded into a truck.

A crane located in the woods, surrounded by burnt trees and brush, hoisted large totes filled with debris.
Michigan pilot Emanuel Vomvolakis, 23, radioed his engines had failed moments before the fatal crash. Vomvolakis was the only person on board when the twin-turboprop plane crashed and burst into flames in Bedford near Technology Drive.

The aircraft was flying to the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport from Essex County New Jersey airport and was reported to be carrying medical supplies according to Bedford Police. The plane was operated by Castle Aviation from Ohio, the company according to their website specializes in air cargo.
Vomvolakis, according to an online obituary, was an accomplished pilot who got his private pilot license at the age of 17. He then went on to get his commercial pilot license after attending ATP Flight School.
The family asks that contributions may be made to the Fly High Manny Memorial Fund which is being established in his honor to give scholarships to aspiring aviators at www.cfgf.org/flyhighmanny.

Sources said the debris should be removed by the end of the week.
