- A man who jumped in the Merrimack River to escape police was charged in connection with a strong-armed robbery in Bedford on March 7. The man had grabbed a woman's purse while she was shopping, and fled on a moped. Jorge Guzman Alvarado, 49, of Manchester, was charged on Thursday, April 7, with robbery, theft, disobeying a police officer, operating without a license, and a traffic contrail device violation. - New Hampshire students from Portsmouth High School need to raise $10,000 to compete in national Model United Nations tournaments. After winning the Academic World Quest held in Bedford, PSH Model UN seniors Sam Borne, Francis Powell, Rio Marcus and Carter Schmitt qualified to compete in four national competitions.
