Magazine Street to be Closed for Three Weeks
Several ongoing and upcoming projects create detours in Bedford.

While roadwork continues to impact drivers who routinely travel Joppa Hill Road, the Town of Bedford is proceeding with a couple other projects as well.
This week, the Bedford Public Works Department announced that beginning Monday, June 24, and extending roughly three weeks, Magazine Street will be closed to through traffic for the construction of a box culvert at Riddle Brook.
Vehicle, pedestrian and emergency access to Magazine Street house numbers 4-30 will only be available through Wallace Road, and access to house numbers 33-58 will be directed through Jackson Square (via Wallace Road).

The proposed road closure and construction is contingent upon low or predicted low stream flows in Riddle Brook. This schedule will be altered if stream conditions warrant.
Also, on Friday, July 12, from 7 a.m. through 5 p.m., an electrical outage is scheduled to occur on a portion of Magazine Street as part of this project. Affected house numbers are: 29, 30, 33, 35, 37, 41, 45, 47, 48, 51, 54, 55, and 58.

Chubbuck Road and Bedford Transfer Station Closure
Chubbuck Road is scheduled to be closed from Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 12, for the construction of a box culvert at Riddle Brook, which is located between located between the town's transfer station and public works garage.
Temporary sanitation disposal facilities will be located at the Bedford Public Works Garage to accommodate the collection of bagged household trash and household recyclables only.
No other items will be accepted during this time, and significant delays should be expected.
Access to the athletic field on Chubbuck Road won't be interrupted as part of this project.

Joppa Hill Road Construction Continues
Through June 28, Joppa Hill Road is closed to through vehicles from the Joppa Hill Athletic Fields north to Perry Road. Access to the athletic fields is from the south or North Amherst Road. Access to the Joppa Hill Farm is from the north or Perry Road.
In addition, representatives from Maine Drilling and Blasting may be performing structural pre-blast surveys at residences on Joppa Hill Road, between Perry Road and Golden Drive, over the next two weeks.
