Tornado Warning in Effect for Southeastern Hillsborough County

National Weather Service advising those in the warning area to seek immediate shelter.

UPDATE: The tornado warning has expired in Hillsborough County, but remains in effect for parts of Central Essex County in Massachusetts until 3:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service is advising residents of Northern Massachusetts and Southeastern Hillsborough County,  that a strong thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado is headed toward the area.

The tornado warning is in effect until 3:15 p.m. and includes Northern Middlesex Count in Southeast Massachusetts Western Essex County in eastern Massachusetts, Northeastern Worcester County in central Massachusetts. 

This storm was located just south of Leominster at 2:24 p.m. and was moving northeast at 25 mph.

The National Weather Service advises residents "take cover now. Do not wait to see a tornado, go to a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, away from windows. If in a vehicle, a mobile home or outdoors get to the closest shelter. Protect yourself from flying debris."

There is also a flash flood warning in effect until 5:30 p.m. and a flash flood watch in effect until 8:30 a.m. Tuesday
