Here are the top 3 stories today in Bedford:

  1. A shout out to Bedford Commercial Realtor, Deane Navaroli, a principal at Williams & Reeves in Bedford. He will be marketing "all aspects " of the redevelopment of a large property that was the former home of The Concord Monitor. A New Hampshire developer met with Penacook residents to discuss conceptual plans to transform the large industrial building into a mixed-use community, that could have "hundreds of apartments and condos, first-floor retail, and a self-storage space company." (Patch)
  2. A student-built airplane is ready to take flight at the Manchester-Boston Regional airport. The airplane, built by high school students at the Manchester School of Technology, is scheduled to take off from the airport with a water-cannon salute at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The airplane building program was sponsored by Aviation Museum in partnership with Tango Flight, an educational nonprofit that operates high school programs in three states to help students build airplanes. This is the first student-built plane that will be taking off in New Hampshire! (Subscription/The Union Leader)
  3. People are feeling positive about the economy, and are also feeling positive about personal finances, a new report shows. In August, U.S. consumer sentiment reached a three-month high and surprised forecaster's expectations. The University of Michigan’s preliminary sentiment index rose to 55.1 in July, according to data they gathered on Friday. It's about time we had some good news. (Subscription/The Union Leader)
